WD Data Storage Media Devices Offer a Sense of Cloud

Western Digital (WD) has launched a storage device with a sense of the cloud. The product is called Sentinel DX4000 which serves as a storage medium that can be placed practically anywhere.
With its ability to store data that can connect up to 25 devices (PC or laptop running Windows or Mac), DX4000 Sentinel is a remote access solution is ideal for companies and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
"The ability to have a centralized storage that are in place and offer secure remote access, able to provide the flexibility required by today's mobile lifestyle, from small business owners and employees. WD provides a hands free solution for small business owners, that offers a complete data protection and security that is unparalleled. " concluded Thomas Gallivan, vice president of marketing SMB Solutions Group WD.
According to Salim Tiraputra, DX4000 Sentinel device allows users to access the data folder remotely, wirelessly over the Internet. "This device is a storage server, this allows us to remote Sentinel from outside, such devices are kept at home, but users are outside the country, users can access the contents of the data through an Internet connection," said Salim Tirtaputra, Sales Manager, Western Digital Le Grandeur Hotel in Jakarta, to Legal, Wednesday (14/03/2012).
Sentinel DX4000 is a centralized storage device to a LAN (Local Area Network), as well as the cloud, but the infrastructure of storage media can be seen physically. Although the device only supports up to a maximum of 25 computers, but its usefulness is worth considering for offices and small businesses.
"Categories of this device is a small medium business. But we are targeting is a very small business to use as many as 10 users, and small business to use up to 25 users." he concluded
Tirtaputra also explained that the DX4000 Sentinel has applications that are stored, the Dashboard and LaunchPad. Dashboard serves to make arrangements such as create user, determine the level of data access, create a new folder and so on. Meanwhile, Launchpad can be operated by users, such as accessing data, open the folder, and remote access. Then, the interesting part of this dashboard application, has a monitoring function, to see the status, the temperature of the computer.
"All of the features in Sentinel DX4000 can be for data protection. There are also two ethernet ports, we can connect the device with two internet provider, if one break, then automatically the other port will be able to replace the ethernet port," he explained.
WD Sentinel DX4000 is also supported by three post-sale customer service package, including the WD Guardian Express offers next day replacement parts include shipping and handling. Then, WD Guardian Pro is offering a one-year endorsement deal with WD service, replacement parts quickly and priority access to technical support. Then, the Guardian Extended Care is a service that extends the product warranty from the standard 3 years to 5 years.
With advanced features and functions offered by Sentinel DX4000, the device priced at USD1029 for retail with 4 TB of storage capacity and USD1525 for 8 TB of storage capacity and warranty for 3 years.
