The Android tablet earn a slice of Apple's market

Android is slowly eroding the tablet market at the expense of Apple's iPad. This is what emerges from the numbers at Strategy Analytics, who see the Google's operating system up to an amount equal to 39% of the market for the last period of 2011, compared with 29% recorded in the previous quarter.

The remaining share belongs almost exclusively to Apple (58%), with the remaining three percent divided among other operating systems such as the now defunct HP WebOS and Windows 7, which holds half (1.5%). This situation will change with Windows 8, which in addition to an interface modeled specifically for the tablet will debut on both the ARM platform and x86, which finally has the first true system-on-chip worthy of the name, ie the new generation of Intel Atom core Penwell introduced earlier this month at CES.

But they will not be an easy situation for Microsoft, because if the current trend will continue in the direction of a more expanded Android Market. Between October and December, Apple has put on the market iPad 15.4 million, up from 10.5 million tablet with Android, which become 66.9 million over the course of 2011, 18.6 million more than in the previous year.
