Notebook prices fall, down 14% in 2 years

A consumer survey conducted by NPD showed a slow but steady decrease in the average price of the notebook. The analysis was conducted on a time interval from January 2010 to December 2011 and although focused on the U.S. market, shows a virtually global trend.

If in January 2010 the average price of Windows laptops was $ 530, now reduced to $ 456. In addition to the normal lowering of production costs of hi-tech, the reduction was also induced by the netbook phenomenon and the recent "invention" of the Intel ultrabook. This segmentation has pushed prices down by creating a well-defined compartment of the cheapest portable between 400 and $ 500.

At the current average of $ 456 (around 350 ) you can currently buy products from all over, like the Acer Aspire AS5742 Intel Core i3 with a second-generation 2.4-GHz, 15.6-", 4 GB of RAM and a 320 GB hard drive, or a similar product from HP, a Pavilion G4 with 14 "screen, same processor, 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB disk.
