Samsung, however, during the ISSCC has previewed some of the specimens previously announced SoC Exynos 4412, a quad core based on a new version of the ARM Cortex A9, which will make its official debut right at the Mobile World Congress. This is a System on a Chip solution transition between the current and chips, more innovative, expected for 2013. Exynos 4412 it is still based on the ARM Cortex A9 core, SoC as the other currently produced by the Korean, with respect to these, however, introduces two features: first, it will be a quad core and will be made with a new lithographic process to 32 nm, against current 40 with which it is made the basic version of the Cortex A9.
The doubling of the core combined with increased operating frequency, made possible by the new production process should therefore ensure that SoC performance by about 26% higher than the current Exynos, while absorbing less energy, in a proportion varying between 35 and 50% depending on the usage scenarios, and thus ensuring greater autonomy. The SoC will have clock rates ranging from 200 MHz to 1.5 GHz and will be coupled to a graphics subsystem 400 quad core ARM Mali.
Samsung Exynos 4412 should therefore compete directly against the current Nvidia Tegra 3, but by the end of the year or early 2013, in response to higher performance Qualcomm Snapdragon and Texas Instruments OMAP S4 5, the Korean giant should make a new start Exynos 5250, a quad core ARM Cortex A15 processor, which should be able to stand the comparison.
