Sony shows a prototype of Crystal LED screen, response times, 10 times faster

From this Tuesday at the Sony booth at CES you can see the prototype of a 55-inch screen uses a new technology called LED called Crystal. In a manner similar to OLED screens (organic light-emitting diode), also on this panel, there is no backlight and LEDs to emit light themselves. Each pixel has three small LEDs (red, green, blue) and a Full HD display of this type reach an altitude of 6 million.

The use of this technology has far superior contrast levels in bright rooms that is dark. In the statement released at this time it is stated that also the viewing angles are clearly superior to the technologies LCD or plasma, with a considerable saving of energy since there is the need for a backlight.

The prototype on display at the booth has a brightness level of 400 cd / , viewing angles of 180 degrees, a contrast level that "exceeds the measured" response times and 10 times higher than LCD technology. Sony also lets you know that Crystal LED does not imply the death of OLED panels as it was rumored in recent days, however they will continue to be developed and sold regularly.
