At a guess, with support for AirPrint printers on the market are already more than a hundred, all branded Canon, HP, Epson and Lexmark, and new models are added every cycle. The biggest stumbling block of technology, however, is that the hardware should natively support its features, which means in practice toutcourt replacement of old (or even not so old) printer. Fortunately, utilities such as jewelry or AirPrint Hacktivator Ecamm Printopia came to the rescue of users and, although not requiring a physical connection to the device, still need a Mac for constantly lit to act as a server.
But if you have a multifunction network connectivity, then you have another opportunity. In a press release dating back a few hours ago, Lantronix has presented xPrintServer, a toy can bring AirPrint where there is:
xPrintServer, roughly the size of an iPhone, is a hardware solution that uses the native menu printing of IOS and does not require applications, software and additional downloads, and even installing drivers. The printers are automatically detected and configured, and the print is easy and hassle free. Simply open the box, enter xPrintServer anywhere on the network and print wirelessly from any device with Apple's iPhone OS 4.2 or higher, on virtually any printer connected to the network.
This is an interesting new feature dedicated to the business market and who owns a home office, but at a cost savory: $ 150, about 115 € in advance of this page, which must be added the cost of shipping and customs. Eye, however, because it will be available from the beginning of next year: better to wait and make sure that 1) it is not vaporware and 2) functions as they say.
