46% of Adults in the U.S. Using a Smartphone

The use of smartphones among adults in the United States (U.S.) is quite high. In fact, the number had almost reached the half.

According to a survey by the Pew Research Centers Internet & American Life Project reveals that 46 percent of Americans aged 18 and over have had a smart phone. While 41 percent use the phone feature, and the rest did not use the handset.

This is an increase siginfikan enough where when in May last year, found that 35 percent of American adults have a smartphone, while 48 percent had a mobile phone. As reported by Cellular News, Sunday (03/04/2012).

Meanwhile, from 46 percent who use smart phones, as much as 15 percent of the users of Android, while iPhone is owned 19 percent of consumers in the U.S.. While 6 percent are still using the BlackBerry faithful.

Two percent said they have a Windows phone, unchanged from May 2011, and one percent said they have a Palm device, also unchanged since May 2011.

Pew found that smartphone ownership has increased significantly among men and women, young adults and middle-aged, urban and rural residents and between the rich and poor.

The survey of 2253 adults was conducted between January 20 to February 19 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points
