Rockchip RK30: CPU dual core tablet cheap

Rockchip is a Chinese fabless, who does not realize that in their structures, which then sells the chips. The peculiarity of this company is to offer complete platforms, so-called TurnKey, or ready to be easily assembled into a finished product, without any additional steps that would increase costs. Rockchip solutions that include not only the SoC, but also the mainboard and everything you need to run an ultramobile device. The target of these solutions is then the manufacturers of Android based devices very cheap, targeted at the mass market.

To date, however, the solutions were not Rockchip exceptionally efficient, being based on a single core processor ARM Cortex A8 at 1 GHz, which belongs to the past generation. With the new platform family Rockchip RK30 instead the company China marks a significant breakthrough. In fact we will find now a new dual core processor based on the current core ARM Cortex A9 at 1.4 GHz, combined with an integrated graphics subsystem 400 quad core ARM Mali, all integrated into a platform precisely Phisical ARM Artisan IP Solutions, ideal for embedded solutions .

The platform also supports Rockchip RK30 LPDDR2 type memories, DDR2 and DDR3 as well, thanks to the ARM Mali 400 GPU, you can now perform the encoding and decoding in hardware video streams in 1080p Full HD, dual display drive solutions and control two cameras. RK30 also even supports 3D panels, in addition to digital video outputs HDMI 1.4 and OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 and OpenVG1.1.

In this way then will soon be possible to find more easily tablet cheap but at the same time equipped with a platform modern and sufficiently efficient. The first sample of the new Rockchip RK30 will indeed be available from next March.
