The U.S. government asked the founder Megaupload, Kim Dotcom extradited

United States filed a formal request to extradite Kim DotCom, MegaUpload founder who was in New Zealand on charges of hijacking and extortion.

DotCom New Zealand locked in prison for more than a month after the arrest January 19, 2012, but released on bail about two weeks ago. Local police raided his home and seized his assets after the U.S. government indicted him as a criminal for copyright, extortion, and money laundering. The U.S. government has 45 days from arrest to file an extradition.

Kim Dotcom received hundreds of millions of dollars when his site Megaupload allowing people to download pirated movies, TV shows and music. It is estimated to cost the copyright owner as much as U.S. $ 500 million and is part of the largest online piracy cases around the world.

DotCom pleaded not guilty and is a victim of U.S. law enforcement officials who are eager to appease Hollywood. Because, in January, U.S. President Barack Obama angered many in the entertainment sector, when he was being less firmly against anti-piracy laws in the U.S..
