U.S. senators ask FTC to investigate Apple and Android

FTC (Free Trade Commission in the United States) were asked to investigate Apple by one U.S. senator, Democrat Charles Schumer. The investigation was based on suspicion and reports from the public about the application on the mobile platform that can steal your photos and personal contacts then export their data to an external server.

Schumer said in a letter to the FTC, "The application is beyond the reasonable understanding of the users and they can not agree just when there is an application that allows to access data on the phone for the purposes of certain app functionality."

Schumer believes the smartphone makers have to improve security measures to ensure third-party applications can not violate the personal privacy of users with pictures or steal user data, and then disseminated to the public. It is an obligation for them to protect consumers that their privacy is maintained.
