LG 55 "OLED TV in time for the Olympics, but at a heavy price

LG could take the opportunity to gain the 2012 Olympics to put on the market a TV 55 "OLED panel (of which we had already spoken at CES 2012), a few months in advance of schedule. The launch would take place in conjunction with the Cannes Film Festival, that is, in mid-May.

The news is anything but official and started from Maeil, a Korean publication, which also informs us of a possible price of about 9 million Won, slightly less than 6000 € at current exchange rates.

A price at least 8 times higher than that of conventional LCD and plasma display, which shows that the technology is still far from the mainstream debut now expect at least 5 years.
