Casio has just announced that the G-Shock GB-6900 will soon be available in Japan. Initially expected this December, but postponed the disastrous flood in Thailand, this clock is advanced to interact with smartphones to provide synchronization and information on incoming calls, emails and text messages directly on the display. It 's also possible to pass the phone into silent mode simply by pressing a button.
This is not the first watch with these features, but is the first ever to introduce the use of Bluetooth LE (also known as Wibree, Wikipedia for more), a variant of low-power Bluetooth 4.0, which uses only a fraction of 'energy and that according to specifications provided by Casio, provides a range of about two years with a conventional battery type CR2032 coin.
The clock will initially only available in Japan from March 16 at a price of 18,000 yen, or about 180 euros.
