HP Isis free, browser WebOS

Last December, several months after announcing the suspension of production of tablet TouchPad and Pre smartphone, the manufacturer HP announced its intention to make its open-source operating system WebOS, the result of the acquisition of Palm. Last month, developers have been able to use the JavaScript framework Enyo 2.0, allowing the execution of native applications on WebOS, but also on other systems.

Within this month, however, the community will be able to download the browser components Isis. The latter is based on QtWebKit, which should enjoy "greater speed and standards support, providing a platform for rapid and powerful Enyo and applications," explains American society. Note that you can not integrate Flash Player through the Netscape Plugin API. HP is also proposed to recover the user interface widget of Enyo and JavaScriptCore JavaScript engine.

The availability of the components of WebOS will be conducted and managed by employees of HP, but the company states that, with time, those who have shown commitment and interest in the project will contribute to the optimization of the code.
